Relay for Life of Greene County will hold an online auction next week. Bidding will open Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 10 am and close Friday, Sept. 11, at 7 pm.
“The silent auction is a favorite part of our large Relay for Life event every year, and it’s been a good fundraiser for us,” said event leadership team chair Tori Riley said. “The online format is easy and fun, and we hope a lot of people will check it out. It’s part of our response to the challenge of raising funds when a pandemic keeps us from holding large events.”
Headline items in the auction so far include a Night on the Town with free play at Wild Rose Casino, dinner at Coaches’ Corner, and one night of lodging at Cobblestone Inn when it reopens; a free event rental of the Rotary Room at the Jefferson Community Golf Course; and a queen-size quilt made of vintage hand-embroidered linens.
“The businesses and individuals who have supported the Relay for Life silent auction in the past are stepping up again this year. We have gift certificates from local restaurants, merchandise from local businesses, and more,” Riley said.
The auction website is www.32auctions.com/greenecountyrelay. There is also a link to the auction from the Relay for Life of Greene County Facebook page. Auction items are being added daily. Items will also be displayed in the window of the Masonic lodge on the west side of the downtown square in Jefferson.
Successful bidders can pick up their items Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 to 11:30 am at the Masonic lodge.
All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society to help its efforts to serve cancer patients and their caregivers, to fund life changing research, and to educate and advocate for a healthier lifestyle.
Persons who want more information, a proxy bidder, or to donate items for the online auction can call Riley at 515-370-3087.
